Director of Events and Experiences

Join Perplexity as the Director of Events and Experiences. In this role, you will be responsible for owning and managing all events worldwide, including hosted events, speaking engagements, and sponsorships. You will set the strategy, manage the budget, and build the team. You will also be responsible for producing hosted events, running the speaking program, managing sponsorships, and running field events with sales. Additionally, you will lead the events team, build the event system, measure event success, and be on-site for important events. The ideal candidate will have 12+ years of experience in event production, a strong understanding of event measurement, and the ability to partner with various departments within the company.

• Drives measurement. Has built event attribution and tracked brand sentiment, and reports what each event returned
• Based in San Francisco or New York
• Can partner with Sales, Product, Comms, Brand, Finance, Legal, and executives
• Knows production: run of show, staging, AV, registration, staffing, security, permits
• Power user of AI tools. Most of your work already runs through them, and you can show us how
• Has built or led an events team
• Has negotiated sponsorships and knows a bad deal when they see one
• Has owned large budgets, agency relationships, and vendor contracts
