Software Engineer (Developer Portal, New Grad / Early Career)

Join as a Software Engineer II on the Developer Portal team. In this role, you'll work on building a self-service platform for organizations to integrate 's identity proofing services. You'll be involved in backend and frontend development, using technologies like Java, Spring Boot, Next.js, and React. This is an early-career position for engineers with 0 to 2 years of experience.

• This is an early-career role for engineers who are 0 to 2 years into their career and write excellent code
• You don't need years of industry experience. You need strong fundamentals, a track record of building real things, and an AI-native way of working: you already use AI coding tools as a core part of how you design, build, test, and debug, and you have the judgment to know when their output is right and when it isn't
• Evidence that you build real software: internships, substantial class or team projects, open-source contributions, hackathons, or side projects that other people use
• 0 to 2 years of professional software engineering experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
• Ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly through independent research and by working with mentors and subject-matter experts
• Experience building with LLMs or agentic workflows (e.g., using the Claude or OpenAI APIs, MCP, or agent frameworks) in projects or coursework
• Clear written and verbal communication. You can explain what you built, why, and what tradeoffs you made
• AI-native development workflow: daily, hands-on use of AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) to build and ship software, paired with the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and maintainability, and to explain every line you submit
• Fluency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, Go, Kotlin, C#, Ruby)
• Excellent coding skills and strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, complexity, and debugging
• Understanding of how web applications work, including HTTP, REST APIs, and relational databases/SQL

• Experience writing automated tests (unit, integration, or end-to-end with tools like Jest, JUnit, or Playwright)
• Experience with PostgreSQL or another relational database, including schema design
• Experience building developer tools, APIs, SDKs, or documentation that other developers use
• Experience with React, TypeScript, or Next.js
• Exposure to authentication and authorization concepts such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWTs, SSO, or access control models
• Experience with Java and Spring Boot, or another backend framework (Rails, Node.js/Express, Django, Go)
• Interest in security, identity, fraud prevention, or regulated systems
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure), containers, or CI/CD pipelines
• Internship experience building backend services or full-stack web applications
