Senior Software Engineer (Agentic Platform - Moveworks)

Join Moveworks as a Senior Software Engineer and be at the forefront of building the runtime infrastructure that powers our AI agents. This role focuses on distributed systems engineering and involves creating and owning various systems, including the agent orchestration engine, distributed session management, event-driven message pipeline, observability infrastructure, and caching and state layers. You will work with technologies such as DynamoDB, Redis, SQS, Kafka, gRPC, and Python or Go.

• Conception, development, and ownership of the agent orchestration engine, which manages long-running agent sessions and coordinates planning, execution, and user interaction.
• Design and implementation of distributed session management, including lease-based ownership, heartbeat protocols, and crash recovery.
• Building and maintaining the observability infrastructure, including OpenTelemetry instrumentation, distributed trace context propagation, and custom span lifecycle management.

• Database systems for infrastructure: DynamoDB (conditional writes, transactions), Redis (connection pooling, pub/sub)
• Event-driven architectures: message queues (SQS, Kafka), pub/sub, backpressure, delivery guarantees
• GRPC/protobuf: streaming RPCs, service interface design, error handling patterns
• Experience designing and operating systems that handle real traffic at scale
• Distributed systems: consistency models, idempotency, exactly-once delivery, distributed locking/leasing
• Strong in Python or Go (ideally both)
• You should have deep experience in at least 3 of these areas:
• Observability: OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, span context propagation, Prometheus metrics
• Required:
• Comfort with ambiguity — these are novel problems without textbook solutions
• Concurrent/async programming: Python asyncio, Go goroutines, structured concurrency, cancellation handling
• 5+ years building production backend/infrastructure systems
