Engineering Manager (Bankrate)

• Lead a small engineering team, managing their day-to-day activities, growth, and performance.
• Own sprint-to-sprint delivery, including planning, prioritization, sequencing, and communication of scope, timeline, and risk.
• Contribute hands-on to the codebase, particularly in ambiguous or load-bearing areas, while providing growth opportunities for the team.

• Still technically hands-on and credible — able to review, contribute to, and make sound decisions within a modern TypeScript codebase
• Experience leading and managing a small engineering team, or a technical lead / player-coach ready to formalize into people management
• Familiar with observability/APM and incident-response tooling; upholds operational and quality standards for a regulated, money-touching product
• Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (AWS), infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD automation
• Clear communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders; comfortable managing up, across, and outward
• Comfortable with ambiguity and a lean operating model; biases toward leverage and automation over headcount
• Remains hands-on within our primarily TypeScript-based stack spanning API services and full-stack web applications
• Strong people-leadership skills: coaching, feedback, performance management, and developing engineers across levels
• Solid delivery management: decomposing work, sequencing, managing dependencies and risk, and communicating status honestly
• Fluent with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Windsurf, or Microsoft Copilot, and able to use them to raise team throughput and reduce toil while holding the review and quality bar
