Lead Software Engineer (Distributed Systems)

Join our team as a Lead Software Engineer specializing in Distributed Systems. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and operations of our Edge Control plane service and Edge Intelligence service. You will work on optimizing and securing connectivity between our customers and applications, as well as between our data centers and customer applications. This position requires extensive experience in backend Java development, distributed systems, micro-services, and public cloud platforms.

• Lead the design, development, testing, and operations of the Edge Control plane service and the Edge Intelligence service.
• Drive and deliver thin slices of functionality on a regular cadence with data-driven feedback loops in an agile environment.
• Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovations that improve system availability, resilience, and performance.

• Experience using telemetry and metrics to drive operational excellence
• Experience owning and operating multiple instances of mission-critical infrastructure services including, monitoring, alerting, logging, and reporting applications
• Experience with container orchestration systems Kubernetes, Docker, Helios, Fleet or Mesos
• Resolve complex technical issues and drive innovations that improve system availability, resilience, and performance
• Experience with managing large, complex systems in the cloud
• 10+ years of engineering experience
• Capable of driving and delivering thin slices of functionality on a regular cadence with data-driven feedback loops in an agile environment
• Eat, sleep, and breathe services. You’ll have experience balancing live-site management, feature delivery, and retirement of technical debt
• Create, maintain and share technical documentation used by engineers and other team members
• Deep knowledge of object oriented programming and experience with at least one object oriented programming language, preferably Java
• Public cloud engineering on GCP, AWS, Alibaba and/or Azure platforms
• Be passionate about automation
• Solid knowledge of Database technologies
• Experience with Agile development methodology and Testing
• In depth experience of design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and concurrency
• Experience designing, developing, debugging, and operating resilient distributed systems
• Excited by building reliable, self-healing services on unreliable hardware
• SOAP/REST APIs and general API design
• Experience with open source projects
• Experience with Big data technologies like Spark, Kafka, Druid
• Knowledge of network technologies, such as TCP/IP, DNS, TLS termination, HTTP proxies, etc
• CI/CD experience with Jenkins
