Senior / Staff Electrical Engineer

Join Waabi, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology. As a Senior/Staff Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing custom electronics for our autonomous vehicles. This role requires a strong background in hardware development, experience with communication interfaces, and familiarity with ECAD tools. You will work closely with various teams and have a hands-on approach to both lab work and roadmap planning.

• Ownership of hardware design from schematic to vehicle, including board design, manufacturing, and testing.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with OEM partner and internal quality standards.
• Management of contract manufacturers to deliver high-quality products, tracking schedules and flagging risks early.

• Experience partnering with CMs to deliver high-quality products
• Familiarity with communication interfaces (e.g. CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, LIN, USB, UART, and JTAG/SWD)
• Experience with firmware testing and debug, scripting, and embedded Linux
• Sound judgment on component and topology tradeoffs
• Hands-on experience debugging circuit-level functionality
• 2–3+ years in a formal leadership role
• Familiarity with ECAD tools (e.g. Altium, OrCAD, KiCAD)
• Analog circuit design from first principles, including filtering, protection, and voltage/current sensing
• Ability to read schematics, board layouts, engineering drawings, and technical documentation
• 10+ years in hardware development. Some experience with test engineering is beneficial
• BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• Comfortable switching between hands-on lab work and roadmap planning
• Nice to have: automotive, robotics, or AV experience
• Familiarity with automotive standards (e.g. ISO 26262, ISO 16750, AEC-Q)
