Staff Software Engineer (Native Mobile)

Join Coinbase as a Staff Software Engineer, Native Mobile. You will lead the App Infra team in rewriting the existing React Native app into native Swift and Kotlin builds. Your expertise in iOS or Android will set the technical bar, own quality outcomes, and translate organizational strategy into technical execution. You will also shape the dual-app synchronization strategy and become a leader in the mobile community at Coinbase.

• 8+ years of iOS or Android mobile software engineering experience (Swift/iOS or Kotlin/Android), with working proficiency in the other platform and willingness to develop cross-platform fluency, as engineers on this team own both iOS and Android
• Experience improving developer experience through build systems, CI/CD pipelines, and release tooling, with improvements adopted beyond your immediate team
• Demonstrated ability to translate org strategy into team-level technical execution, build alignment across cross-team and cross-functional partners, and secure commitment on migration timelines and quality standards
• Uses generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable gains in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality
• Deep understanding of mobile performance optimization, including cold start, frame stability, scroll jank, and time to interaction, with experience profiling and tuning across device tiers including low-end Android
• Track record of shipping high-quality mobile applications at scale with ownership of architecture decisions, performance budgets, and release quality, with outcomes that would not have happened without your direct involvement
• Experience with AI-assisted code generation or LLM-driven development workflows, with demonstrated judgment on what to automate and what requires human review
