SDN Engineer (Product Software)

Join Equinix as an SDN Engineer, where you'll work on AI Inference open-source software in a globally distributed development team. You'll cultivate Equinix's open-source presence, interact with stakeholders, and assist in analyzing and evaluating new technologies. With a focus on best design and development practices, you'll prioritize tasks and deal with ad-hoc requests. Candidates should have 5+ years of experience in network and security principles, programming in languages such as Go, Python, C/C++, Rust, and a deep understanding of OSI Layer.

• Collaborate with a globally distributed development team to work on AI Inference open-source software and contribute to Equinix's open-source presence.
• Interact with stakeholders to understand and document product features, provide a level of effort for the product backlog, and work with project managers to define a schedule.
• Assist in the analysis and evaluation of new technologies to meet product roadmap goals, advocate for best design and development practices, and prioritize tasks.

• 5+ years of experience or related experience applying network and security principles within a cloud infrastructure deployment. Demonstrated experience in secure transport methods (SSH, TLS, IPSEC, Wireguard), IAM, VPCs and connectivity such as IaaS peering and VPN solutions
• Strong track record of delivering resilient network systems and services with a focus on delivering amazing experiences for end users
• Comfortable programming in languages such as Go, Python, C/C++, Rust
• A deep understanding of OSI Layer and its application
• 5+ years of experience or related experience in designing and building highly redundant SDN network infrastructure with an emphasis on L4/L7 proxying, HTTP/1.1, HTTP/2, gRPC, SNI routing, mTLS, reverse proxy tools such as HAProxy, Envoy, NGINX, and API gateway Proxy
• DevOps mindset to improve CICD using GitHub Actions and review DORA metrics to improve processes
• Strong hands-on technical skills. Can drill deep into the complex network system design and implementation when needed. Familiarity with APIs and designing solutions to leverage interfaces to build network automation or capabilities such as dashboarding or monitoring
