Perform detailed engineering calculations for mechanical systems, including piping, HVAC, plumbing, and energy loads, ensuring compliance with codes, standards, and Tesla’s performance targets
Develop and analyze 3D models using Revit for building information modeling (BIM) coordination, integrating mechanical designs with architectural and structural elements
Create precise 2D and 3D drawings in AutoCAD to support design reviews, fabrication, and installation documentation
Utilize PipeFlo software to simulate and optimize fluid flow, pressure drops, and system performance in complex piping networks
Conduct energy modeling and load calculations with HAP (Hourly Analysis Program) and Trane Trace 3D to evaluate HVAC system efficiency, thermal comfort, and sustainability metrics for new developments
Create and maintain Basis of Design (BOD) documentation that clearly defines mechanical system requirements, design criteria, performance goals, and key assumptions for each project phase
Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, and construction teams to integrate mechanical designs into preconstruction deliverables, including feasibility studies, cost estimates, and risk assessments
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experiences
Proficiency in engineering software including Revit, AutoCAD, PipeFlo, HAP, and Trane Trace 3D; experience with additional tools like Navisworks or Bluebeam
Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability in load calculations, fluid dynamics simulations, and energy modeling
Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, IPC, IMC) and sustainable design principles (e.g., LEED)
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical data to non-technical stakeholders and thrive in a collaborative, iterative environment
Ability to travel to project sites as needed and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, deadline-driven setting
