Motion Designer

Join Okta, the leading independent identity provider for the enterprise, as a Motion Designer. In this role, you will balance the rigor of our central motion design system with the versatility to create bespoke, impactful motion for our most critical brand moments. You will be responsible for building and maintaining scalable motion infrastructure, delivering high-impact event experiences, crafting standout brand and campaign motion, driving dynamic social and digital storytelling, elevating video and branded content, and pushing the boundaries of brand motion. You will work alongside a collaborative, craft-first team of art directors, designers, and storytellers.

• Architect and maintain central motion systems, championing Okta’s motion guidelines and infrastructure.
• Concept and execute bespoke motion packages for owned flagship events and major industry activations.
• Collaborate with video editors and producers on title sequences, kinetic type treatments, UI animations, and motion graphic overlays.

• Dual-Track Creative Mindset: Demonstrated ability to balance disciplined, organized systems thinking (templates, toolkits, brand consistency) with the agility and creative fire needed to craft inventive, one-of-a-kind motion moments
• Experience: 3+ years of dedicated motion design experience in-house at a fast-paced tech company, creative branding agency, or motion studio, demonstrating equal strength in system building and bespoke creative execution
• Collaborative & Agile Attitude: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with comfort advocating for motion rationale, adapting to feedback, and thriving in an iterative, fast-moving creative environment
• Motion Systems & Templating Fluency: Hands-on experience developing modular After Effects templates, Essential Graphics/MOGRTs, and standardized project setups that enable team-wide scalability
• Tool & Craft Mastery (Required): Expert-level proficiency in Adobe After Effects, Premiere Pro, and the core Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Illustrator, Photoshop). Sound, intuitive command of motion fundamentals: kinetic typography, spatial staging, easing curves, rhythm, and visual hierarchy
• Technical Fluency: Solid command of digital video formats, aspect ratios, framerates, codecs, and render optimization across mobile, desktop, and large-format physical screen arrays
• Versatile, Impact-Driven Portfolio: A standout reel and portfolio showcasing a balanced breadth of work—from large-scale event stage animations and campaign hero pieces to social content and structured motion toolkits
• You are naturally curious, proactive, and excited to jump between building scalable infrastructure and dreaming up bespoke creative solutions
• You don’t believe in choosing between systemic efficiency and creative distinction—you know how to make systems flexible enough to inspire great art
• You have an impeccable eye for timing and pacing, knowing when an animation calls for clean, understated elegance versus high-energy punch
• 3D Motion Capability: Working knowledge of 3D motion design and rendering tools (Cinema 4D, Blender, Redshift, Octane)
• Expression Scripting: Familiarity with writing After Effects expressions to build smarter, automated, dynamic MOGRTs and templates
• Experiential & Stage Tech: Practical experience creating motion graphics for custom LED resolutions, spatial light mapping, or experiential digital signage
• Multi-Brand & Localization: Experience managing motion assets across multi-brand ecosystems or localizing toolkits for global marketing teams
