Software Engineer Intern (Summer 2027 Internship)

Join our team as a Software Engineer Intern for the summer of 2027. You will work on real-world problems related to the development of autonomous surface vessels. This internship offers hands-on experience in software development, testing, and integration, and the opportunity to collaborate with experienced engineers. You will design, implement, and test software components for autonomous systems, assist in the development of testing frameworks, and contribute to technical documentation. This internship is ideal for students pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.

• Design, implement, and test software components for autonomous systems, including navigation algorithms, sensor integration, and communication protocols.
• Collaborate with the team to develop and optimize algorithms for real-time decision-making, path planning, and object detection.
• Assist in the development of testing frameworks and participate in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing to validate software performance in simulated and real-world environments.

• This internship is ideal for students pursuing Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering, or a related field, and eager to make an impact in the defense tech industry
• Basic understanding of robotics principles, autonomous systems, and sensor technologies
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• This role requires full-time in office presence (40 hours/week) based at our headquarters in Austin, TX, from May through August 2027
• Programming skills in Python, C++, Typescript, Javascript, or Rust
• Occasional standing and walking within the office
• Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies
• Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
• Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports
• Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must meet ONE of the following three criteria: 1) A U.S. citizen, 2) A legal permanent resident (also known as a green card holder), OR 3) A refugee or successful asylee (someone who has completed the asylum process and formally received a grant of asylum)
