Senior Site Reliability Engineer

Join IXL Learning, a global leader in edtech, as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer. In this full-time position based in San Mateo, CA, you will be responsible for maintaining the reliability and optimal performance of our products. You will work with a variety of production technology stacks, develop monitoring dashboards, identify technical problems, and partner with application engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of experience in software engineering or site reliability, fluency in observability tools, and experience with cloud solutions and scripting languages.

• Collaborate with the team to master various production technology stacks and take responsibility for site performance, uptime, and scalability.
• Develop and maintain accurate monitoring dashboards, alerting, and runbook documentation, and identify technical problems to develop solutions.
• Partner with application engineering teams to understand product needs, deliver scalable solutions, and propose architecture changes to improve scalability and reliability.

• Public cloud provider experience (AWS or GCP is a plus)
• Fluency in observability tools and methodologies
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in computer science or a related discipline
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Experience with at least one object oriented programming language like Java, C++, C
• Experience with common service technologies like web servers, message queues, load balancers, and databases
• Experience with containerized cloud solutions utilizing Docker and Kubernetes
• Flexibility to work with a variety of technologies and legacy systems, balanced against a passion to streamline and modernize
• Experience with at least one scripting language like Python, Bash, Perl
• Flexibility about work hours and being on call
• 6+ years of professional hands-on software engineering or site reliability experience
• Skill at troubleshooting problems across the stack, providing both immediate fixes as well as long term solutions
