Applications Engineer

Join Silvus, a leading technology company, as an Applications Engineer-I. In this role, you will conduct a wide range of technical activities related to applications/solutions engineering and customer and sales support. You will work closely with customers and the Sales team to drive product development and enable the development of cutting-edge systems and technologies. This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, proficiency with PC office applications and mobile devices, and knowledge of wireless communication systems.

• Conduct a wide range of technical activities relating to applications/solutions engineering and customer and sales support.
• Help define and test new products and features, assist customers and the sales team with their technical support requests.
• Design and test complete solutions that solve unique technical problems, and provide comprehensive support to customers and the sales team.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts
• Office environment
• Outdoor environment for demos and testing
• Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests or demonstrations in the field
• Walking/Moving in the labs
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent degree in relevant STEM field)
• Trade shows
• Excellent organizational skills and attentiveness to details
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to do the following:
• Proficiency with PC office applications and mobile devices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must to effectively communicate with customers and internally across the entire organization
• All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug test
• Must possess an ability to work independently, take initiative, multitask, and effectively interact with cross-functional teams and customers
• Lift equipment up to 50 lbs. for the set-up of demonstrations and testing
• Willingness to travel and work at customer sites
• WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Knowledge of wireless communication systems, radio frequency signal propagation, and digital communication technologies
• Proficiency with instruments such as spectrum analyzers, multimeters, signal generators, and other radio frequency and data network test equipment and testing
• Experience with testing embedded radio communication systems
• Familiarity with Linux
• Proficiency with programming languages such as Python or C/C++
• Experience with operating and testing IP radios/modems
• Proficiency with TCP/IP protocol and networking
