Electromagnetic Computation Engineer

Description:
Tesla is seeking a motivated engineer for powertrain system design and optimization. This position is critical to the development of electric powertrain for Tesla’s current and future electric vehicles. This person will be working in the motor research team to continue develop the system optimization strategy and workflow.

Responsibilities:
Develop electric powertrain multi-physics simulation strategies for real world driving considering devices uncertainties and nonlinearities
Develop, integrate, and scale high-performance computational tools including: MPI+CUDA PDE solvers for electromagnetic analysis; domain decomposition schemes and algebraic multigrid methods; and time domain simulation frameworks
Build and train surrogate models and neural operators (PINN, FNO, DeepONet) to accelerate simulation and optimization workflows of electric drivetrains

Requirements:
Degree in Computational Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
Good understanding of numerical methods for differential equations (FDM, FEM, FVM, BEM, MoM) and time domain integration
Experience developing optimization algorithms and workflows
Strong programming skills
Good physical understanding of electrical machines and power electronics

Expected Compensation
$112,000 - $192,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefitsPay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
