Freelance Accountant and Internal Control Consultant

Accounting Manage day-to-day accounting activities for one or several entities. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual closings. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of accounting records.

Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger postings. Prepare VAT declarations and support other tax compliance obligations. Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts and audit files.

Coordinate with external auditors, accountants and tax advisors. Ensure compliance with Belgian accounting standards and company policies. Internal Control Assess and document existing financial and operational processes.

Identify control weaknesses and propose pragmatic improvement actions. Ensure proper segregation of duties and compliance with internal procedures. Review approval workflows, authorizations and financial governance processes.

Support the implementation and monitoring of internal control frameworks. Perform periodic control testing and follow-up on remediation actions. Participate in risk assessments and recommend mitigating measures.

Support finance leadership in strengthening audit readiness and compliance. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics. Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting combined with exposure to internal control, audit or compliance activities.

Experience from construction, real estate or architect companies (must have). French and English.
