Senior Software Engineer (Data Platform)

Join Coinbase as a Senior Software Engineer on the Data Platform team. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining foundational data services, data integration and processing SDKs, and self-service applications. You'll also architect end-to-end data security and observability services and partner with various teams to convert functional requests into reusable, scalable patterns. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering, proficiency in Python, Go, or Java, and hands-on experience with SQL, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, or similar data processing and orchestration frameworks.

• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Java for backend development, with demonstrated ability to build services that process and serve data at scale
• Hands-on experience with SQL, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, or similar data processing and orchestration frameworks in production environments
• 5+ years of experience in backend software engineering, with hands-on experience building and operating data systems or data pipelines in production
• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality
• Experience with data infrastructure patterns including scale-out architectures, caching layers, key/value stores, and columnar storage systems
