Mechanical Systems Supervisor, Heat Plant - Facilities Services (2245)

Job Description

To plan, organize and direct installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems; perform related work. This position is not eligible for new visa sponsorship at this time. Candidates who already hold valid U.S. work authorization may be considered.

Examples of Duties 1. Supervisory. -Interviews and hires staff and evaluates performance. -Supervises personnel assigned to the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and mechanical systems. -Inspects work scheduled and accomplished by staff and contract personnel. -Ensures work meets production and safety standards. -Maintains time, attendance, and related personnel records. -Orients and trains staff in the use and operation of HVAC and related pneumatic and energy systems. -Estimates future needs and cost of repairs and maintenance of HVAC equipment. -Insures adequate staff coverage for shifts and special events. -Plans and implements changes and procedures to conserve energy and utility costs. -Prepares drawings for projects. -Completes paperwork for master logs. -Formulates and monitors maintenance contracts. -Prepares specifications for vendors.

2. HVAC operation/maintenance. -Ensures the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC equipment. -Tests and adjusts component parts, pneumatic control systems, circulation pumps, electronic air cleaners, air filters, regular furnaces, water heaters, piping, and thermostats. -Operates heating and cooling equipment such as boilers, chillers, air conditioners, and cooling towers. -Records balancing and flow data and makes adjustments. -Writes computer programs and operates/changes functions and systems for computerized energy management equipment. -Responds to emergency call backs.
