Cloud Engineering Manager

Join Altruist, a fast-growing fintech company, as a Cloud Engineering Manager. In this hands-on leadership role, you will lead the Cloud Infrastructure & Platform team, set the roadmap, and make architectural decisions. You will collaborate closely with engineering leadership, Platform, SRE, Security, and Data Platform to eliminate operational bottlenecks and ensure the reliability of our broker-dealer and clearing systems.

• Lead and manage a team of cloud, DevOps, and database reliability engineers, overseeing their growth, performance, and hiring decisions.
• Own the delivery of the Cloud Engineering roadmap, including the governed EKS platform, disaster recovery, Postgres upgrades, and edge gateway consolidation.
• Drive software supply chain security and SDLC hygiene in partnership with Security Engineering, and own the Cloud on-call rotation and incident response process.

• Practiced CI/CD ownership: GitLab pipelines, artifact and secrets management (Vault), and release safety

• Education — Ideally looking for a B.A. / B.S. degree in relevant fields such as Computer Science or Software Engineering, but experience and understanding are just as important
• Observability fluency with Open Telemetry, SLOs, and error budgets used to make real decisions
• Operational credibility — you have run a production on-call rotation and can act as a senior escalation point, not just route the page to someone else
• Creative problem solving — Identifying the problem is simply not enough. You’re instinctually creative with your approach in finding solutions to roadblocks
• Strong Kubernetes (EKS) and Infrastructure as Code experience — Terraform, Helm, and GitOps delivery with ArgoCD
• Deep AWS expertise across networking, IAM, compute, storage, and cost management at production scale
• Experience — 6+ years in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE, including 2+ years managing engineers at a B2B financial services, fintech, or SaaS organization

• Experience running tabletop exercises and disaster recovery GameDays
• Knowledge of brokerage platforms and the financial services industry
• Experience operating in a regulated environment — SOC 1 / SOC 2, FINRA or SEC examinations, and evidence automation
• Expertise with AI (Claude) best practices, and experience rolling AI-assisted workflows out to an engineering team
• Hands-on experience with Kong, Envoy, or Gateway API at the edge
• Familiarity with Teleport, Vault, Karpenter, and policy engines such as OPA Gatekeeper or Kyverno
• Postgres operations depth: upgrades, replication, change data capture, and performance tuning
