Staff Software Engineer (Capacity Engineering)

Join Pinterest as a Staff Software Engineer in Capacity Engineering. You will be responsible for managing one of the largest-scale cloud-native infrastructures in the world, improving efficiency and performance of large-scale distributed systems. You will collaborate with Infrastructure Engineering and SRE teams, leverage AI to scale impact, and have direct visibility across Pinterest Engineering and leadership. Candidates should have a strong background in performance and efficiency projects on large-scale distributed systems, experience with Kubernetes, and proficiency in software development languages such as Java, Python, and C++.

• Experience leading efficiency initiatives at scale on Kubernetes or other large scale shared infrastructure
• Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve speed and quality in your day-to-day workflow for relevant outputs
• Deep understanding of infrastructure capacity and performance
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field or equivalent experience
• Proficiency in software development languages such as Java, Python and C++
• Experience with AWS or similar cloud environments
• Strong track record of critical evaluation and verification of AI-assisted work (e.g., testing, source-checking, data validation, peer review)
• Experience building and managing highly available distributed applications at scale
• Hands-on experience with large, cloud-native multi-tenant platforms at Internet scale
