Senior Counsel (Business Legal)

Join Coinbase as a Senior Counsel on the Business Legal team, where you'll negotiate and structure commercial agreements for strategic partnerships. You'll drive deal execution, build scalable playbooks, and serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders. This role requires 7+ years of relevant transactional experience and a track record of closing high-stakes deals in the fintech space.

• Negotiate and structure highly-tailored commercial agreements with strategic partners and sophisticated counterparties in the fintech and technology space.
• Drive novel agreement frameworks for product partnerships and provide practical, risk-balanced legal guidance that enables business flexibility while protecting Coinbase's interests.
• Build commercial playbooks, templates, and scaled strategies that reduce deal cycle times and enable the business to move faster on recurring transaction types.

• Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality
• J.D. (or applicable equivalent) with 7+ years of relevant transactional experience in-house or at a leading law firm, with active licensure in a U.S. state
• Demonstrated experience negotiating and structuring complex fintech commercial agreements, with a track record of closing high-stakes deals with sophisticated counterparties
• Track record of building scalable legal processes (playbooks, templates, deal frameworks) that accelerate deal velocity and reduce legal bottlenecks
• Proven ability to independently own deal execution end-to-end, from term sheet through closing, across multiple concurrent transactions with cross-functional stakeholders
