Staff SDET Engineer

Join Aviatrix as a Staff Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) and take ownership of the design, build-out, and ongoing evolution of the Platform and Hybrid Scale Integration Playground. This high-impact role is at the intersection of platform engineering and test infrastructure, where you will drive the development of scale testing capabilities and establish shared playground infrastructure for the broader engineering organization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and lead test design and planning for platform and hybrid scale features.

• Conception, construction and ongoing evolution of the Platform and Hybrid Scale Integration Playground.
• Development of scale testing capabilities and establishment of shared playground infrastructure.
• Collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand domain requirements and translate them into playground infrastructure and test designs.

• Proven ability to work independently and drive projects from design through delivery with minimal supervision
• Proficient in leveraging AI-powered tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, LLM-based assistants) to improve test generation, infrastructure automation, and engineering productivity
• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field
• Strong coding skills in Python and/or Golang
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, including networking, gateway architectures, VPCs, and CSP account structures (AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI)
• 6+ years of experience in software development or test engineering, with strong emphasis on infrastructure, scale testing, or platform engineering
• Proficiency with Terraform for building and maintaining regression and scale test infrastructure
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, Docker, and Kubernetes
• Hands-on experience designing and managing test environments at scale using cloud platforms and infrastructure-as-code
• A technical leader who can influence platform and test strategy, mentor others, and drive cross-team alignment without needing formal authority
• A systems thinker who can design infrastructure that doesn't yet exist and drive it to production
• Someone with a scale-first mindset — you understand how systems behave under load and know how to build environments that expose those behaviors reliably
• A strong collaborator who can translate complex domain requirements from networking and platform engineers into robust playground infrastructure and benchmark tooling
• A builder who takes full ownership — from problem definition through design, implementation, and ongoing operations
• Prior work on hybrid or multi-cloud infrastructure environments
• Experience mentoring junior engineers or providing technical leadership on infrastructure projects
• Familiarity with benchmark testing methodology — designing repeatable benchmarks, establishing baselines, and detecting regressions in processing time or memory usage
• Experience building large-scale simulation or emulation environments (e.g., fake/simulated gateway fleets, network topology emulation)
• Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog for environment health and test result visualization
