Controller

Join Cape, a fast-paced and high-growth startup, as our Controller. In this role, you will leverage your accounting expertise to update our processes, design and implement accounting best practices, and prepare Cape for its first PCAOB audit. You will own financial operations, build a team, and support the day-to-day operations of the business. The ideal candidate has 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, CPA certification, and a history of identifying and implementing process improvements.

• Design and implement accounting best practices that maintain high business velocity while meeting GAAP standards.
• Implement an ERP, in partnership with other key stakeholders, and provide leadership in managing the quote-to-cash process.
• Prepare Cape for, and then lead Cape through, its first PCAOB audit.

• We are looking for a Controller who can flex from building a team to developing processes to maintaining our books, all while supporting a high-velocity business day-to-day. You are an accounting wizard and also, at your core, you are a builder
• The ideal candidate is a systems-oriented thinker who thrives when they can strategize, own, fix, and execute all at the same time
• Demonstrated ability to excel in dynamic environments. A self-starter with a history of identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance accuracy and timeliness of close
• CPA certification and understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition standards
• Have successfully led an audit end to end
• (Bonus Points) Experience with NetSuite
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience. At least 2 years of Big 4 experience. Operational accounting within a fast-paced, high-growth start up
• Comfort creating and editing journal entries yourself in QBO, as well as implementing departmental accounting practices across our systems
• Meticulous organization skills, with a proven track record managing large projects end to end and owning recurring processes
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across business partners, customers, and vendors
