Staff iOS Developer Experience Engineer (Slack)

Join Slack as a Staff iOS Developer Experience Engineer. In this role, you will be part of the iOS Developer Experience (DevXP) team, which focuses on creating AI-powered developer tooling for the Slack iOS app. You will lead the development of next-generation developer workflows and intelligent agents, mentor other iOS engineers, and set high standards for technical design and code quality. • You demonstrate exceptional ownership of not only the area of your team, but across Slack’s entire iOS codebase. You have a “can do” demeanor and nothing is beneath you - whether it’s debugging a complex Bazel cache miss or prompting an AI agent to auto-triage a broken CI pipeline. You are self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments
• You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and even failure
• Ability to monitor and improve KPIs such as CI stability, TimeToMerge, and build time metrics, leveraging intelligent automation to proactively identify and resolve pipeline bottlenecks
• Deep expertise with Swift, Bazel, Python, and Xcode tools
• Deep familiarity with the Apple ecosystem, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing tools, and scripting (Python/bash/etc.)
• Hands-on experience with Agentic SDLC workflows—using and integrating AI coding agents (like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot Workspace, or custom LLM scripts) to automate PR generation, code reviews, and boilerplate refactoring
• 10+ years of experience building and maintaining complex iOS tooling from CI to CD
• Experience using Slack and a keen interest in making it better
• Prior experience in an iOS developer experience role
• A related technical degree required
