Job Description
Join a fast-growing company as the Chief of Staff to the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). In this strategic and operational role, you will oversee company-wide budgeting and risk management, turning the CAO's priorities into structured plans. You will work closely with department heads, manage the annual budgeting process, and build and maintain the company's risk register. This is a hands-on position for a high-energy operator looking for exposure to the inner workings of a Super Carrier.
- Ownership of the company-wide budgeting process, including building, running, and continuously improving the annual budget and monthly budget-vs-actual process for every department.
- Building and maintaining the company's risk register, insurance program, compliance and audit calendar, and controls to mitigate risks.
- Translating the CAO's goals into structured plans with clear owners, keeping them moving across departments, and ensuring nothing important stalls.
- Has personally run at least one of: an audit, a compliance program, an insurance renewal, or a risk assessment
- Degree from a top-tier university. MBA welcome but not required
- 5 to 8 years of experience in finance, consulting, investment banking, private equity, or a rigorous strategy or operations role at a high-growth company
- Has personally owned a budget and a budget-vs-actual cycle, and can walk through the reasoning behind the numbers
- Exposure to multi-entity or multi-country operations is a strong plus. Telecom, fintech or other regulated industry experience is a plus, not a requirement
- No CPA or CA required. We are hiring for sharpness, energy and ownership, not credentials
- Adaptable. Thrives on shifting priorities and ambiguity
- AI-native. Uses AI tools daily and can build, not just use, automated workflows. Our finance team runs on Claude, Hex and internal agents. This is a hard requirement
- Proactive communicator. Reaches out first, follows up without being prompted, comfortable with people at every level and with external partners
- Financially fluent. Comfortable with budgeting, variance analysis and financial modeling. Strong Excel. SQL and BI tools a plus
- Roadmapping. Can take an open-ended goal and turn it into a structured plan with milestones, owners and dependencies
- Meticulous. Verifies numbers against source. Documents reasoning. Does not assume. Asks the question rather than guessing
- Sharp and energetic. Fast learner, high output, brings momentum to everything they touch
- High integrity. Trustworthy and discreet, given regular exposure to sensitive financial, legal and HR information
- Entrepreneurial. Takes ownership and creates value rather than waiting for direction
- Collaborative. Brings people together across departments to get things done
- Tools You Will Use: Sage Intacct, Brex, Stripe, Hex, Justworks, Notion, Slack, Google Workspace, Claude and internal AI agents
