Director of Revenue Accounting

Join Function as the Director of Revenue Accounting, where you will be responsible for owning revenue and direct-cost accounting for our consumer revenue business. You will lead the monthly close process, ensure accuracy in revenue and margin reporting, and bring all streams onto one consistent process. You will also manage sales tax compliance, automate month-end processes, and develop a team to support these initiatives. This is a high-impact role in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

• Experience with contribution margin or direct-cost accounting by revenue stream, not only top-line revenue recognition
• Comfortable making the call without precedent — building a consistent process across streams that don't yet run the same way
• Experience maturing a raw or early-stage accounting function into a standardized process — standing up the internal systems and controls
• Deep, applied command of US GAAP and ASC 606 for subscription and service revenue, with the judgment to set close policy as new products launch
• People management experience — you've hired, managed, and developed managers or senior accountants, and can build a team while running the function day to day
• Experience with multistate sales tax compliance for consumer products or marketplace platforms, including nexus and taxability determinations
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with direct, in-house ownership of a consumer or health tech revenue close. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Big 4 public accounting experience is strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience using AI tools or AI agents in month-end close or accounting workflows, with specific examples of work you've automated
• CPA certification (or equivalent)
• Experience integrating an acquired business's revenue accounting into a parent company's close process
• Hands-on experience with Rillet or a similar revenue recognition automation platform
• SQL or other data-querying experience sufficient to independently investigate transaction-level data
• Experience with subscription-based, membership, or consumer health/tech business models
