Staff Technical Program Manager

Join Oportun as a Staff Technical Program Manager, where you'll drive complex technical programs that deliver member value with high speed and quality. In your first year, you'll establish clear program plans and roadmaps, improve information flow through automation, and deliver high-impact initiatives in partnership with engineering and cross-functional teams. You'll lead and manage multiple complex technical programs, develop detailed program plans and schedules, and communicate program status to stakeholders at all levels. You'll also have the opportunity to explore AI tools and find practical use cases for your function.

• Establishing clear program plans and roadmaps, improving information flow through thoughtful automation, and delivering high-impact initiatives in close partnership with engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Driving continuous improvement in program management processes and practices, fostering innovation, operational excellence, and predictable execution.
• Leading and managing multiple complex technical programs from inception through delivery, ensuring clear scope, milestones, dependencies, and outcomes.

• You're a strategic, hands-on program leader who can turn complex technical work into clear plans, decisions, and outcomes. You bring structure to ambiguity, build trust across functions, and keep teams aligned through execution
• Experience or knowledge in financial services
• You're comfortable navigating complexity and don't wait for perfect information to move forward. You communicate clearly, give direct feedback, and expect the same in return
• You have a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred
• You'll have 8+ years of experience in technical program management, with a focus on large-scale, complex programs
• You bring a strong technical background and deep understanding of software development processes and methodologies
• You've demonstrated a strong track record of delivering technical programs on time and within budget
• Experience with Agile and/or Scrum methodologies
• You've used AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, or similar) to improve your own productivity
• Experience mentoring or supporting other program managers and leading cross-functional initiatives
