Client Controller, Fractional CFO Services

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Client Controller who wants to work directly with business owners and grow into a fractional CFO role. You’ll own the financial picture for a portfolio of clients: making sure the books are right, explaining what the numbers mean, and helping owners make better decisions. This role offers a unique opportunity to work directly with our founder and CEO while making a meaningful impact on growing businesses that need strategic financial guidance.

What You’ll Do Review and approve monthly closes prepared by our accounting team, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Prepare and present monthly financial statements and KPI reporting to clients Lead recurring financial review meetings with business owners and serve as their trusted point of contact Build and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections Support job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion reporting for construction clients Prepare financial packages for lenders, including SBA loan applications Identify issues in client financials and recommend practical solutions Coordinate with the accounting team to keep client deliverables on schedule Grow into owning client relationships end to end as a fractional CFO What Makes You a Great Fit 4+ years of accounting experience, including controller, assistant controller, or senior accountant work, or public accounting experience with small business clients Strong command of GAAP, month-end close, and financial statement preparation Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel; Sage and Xero experience preferred Natural ability to explain complex financial information clearly to non-accountants Self-starter mentality with the ability to manage multiple clients independently while following structured processes Genuine interest in business strategy and helping companies grow Nice to Have Construction accounting experience (job costing, WIP, AIA billing, retainage) CPA or progress toward a CPA Experience with SBA lending or lender reporting QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification or SAGE certification Why You’ll Love This Role Direct Mentorship:
