Product Manager (Infrastructure)

Join Benchling as a Product Manager for our core infrastructure teams. In this role, you will prioritize and create a roadmap for our infrastructure initiatives, translating engineering constraints, customer pain points, and business priorities into a clear and actionable plan. You will also engage in customer discovery, make prioritization calls, build the business case for infrastructure investments, and coordinate across teams. Additionally, you will report on outcomes and partner with various departments on cloud economics.

• Prioritize and manage the roadmap for Benchling’s core infrastructure teams, turning engineering constraints and customer pain into a clear, defensible roadmap.
• Conduct customer discovery to identify latent infrastructure needs and engage with external customers about scale, performance, and technical direction.
• Coordinate across organizations to represent infrastructure priorities to dependent teams and ensure alignment with business goals.

• You are not expected to be a systems architect or write technical designs but you're expected to understand infrastructure well enough that you can work with engineering to make crisp trade-off calls under incomplete information
• Strong communication skills
• Comfort translating technical constraints into business narrative, and business priorities into technical requirements, in both directions
• 6+ years of product management experience, with direct exposure to infrastructure, platform, or developer-facing systems
• A track record of making real prioritization calls under pressure, not just facilitating consensus. You can describe a time you said no to a senior stakeholder
• Enough technical fluency to be credible in a room with engineers, without needing to be the most technical person
