Associate Counsel (Product and Marketing)

Join Toast, a fast-growing technology company in the restaurant industry, as an Associate Counsel for Product and Marketing. In this role, you will advise multiple teams, including product, engineering, marketing, compliance, and sales, while helping to identify and mitigate legal risks. You will also support the review of advertising and marketing collateral, hardware product development, and trademark portfolio development. • Advising multiple teams including product, engineering, marketing, compliance, and sales on legal risks and compliance.
• Supporting the review of advertising and marketing collateral, including claim substantiation, disclosures, promotions and sweepstakes.
• Researching and summarizing U.S. and international laws and regulations relevant to the Toast platform, products, services, and marketing activities.

• Exposure to trademark matters, such as clearance, enforcement, or prosecution support, or to hardware or consumer product compliance, is a plus
• A strong eagerness to learn and detail-oriented focus
• Experience working with fast-paced technology, software, or fintech companies is a plus
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to a non-legal audience
• Familiarity with marketing and product-related laws and regulations, and with core privacy concepts
• The ability to work well with cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects with supervision, and recognize when to escalate
• Experience supporting the review of advertising and marketing collateral, or a strong interest in developing it
• A solution-oriented, customer service, and growth mindset, with the ability to apply established legal frameworks to novel business concepts
• A J.D. from an ABA-accredited U.S. law school, and membership in good standing to at least one state bar
• 3-4+ years of legal experience, preferably advising corporate and commercial entities
