Senior Software Engineer

• Design and develop core features of the Roku Operating System (OS) application framework, contributing to new software features and resolution of defects.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support Roku’s overall application development initiatives, analyzing user needs and applying debugging tools.
• Participate in design discussions, contribute to specifications, and develop scalable business solutions that optimize system performance and operational efficiency.

• Embedded systems based on Linux operating system
• Experience with software design patterns
• Debugging of complex systems
• Peer code reviews; writing unit, integration, and functional tests
• CI/CD tooling using GitLab and Jenkins
• Design and architecture of complex software systems
• Agile software development and JIRA bug tracking tools
• Diagnosing, investigating, and resolving production issues
• Will also accept Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience in the position or a related occupation
• Performance optimization, memory management, and multi-threaded development
• API design considerations and tradeoffs
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Consumer Electronics and media codecs, streaming experience
• Experience developing SDKs, APIs, or developer tools
• 5 years of progressive experience in the position or a related occupation
• Front-end application development for embedded devices
• C++ programming and Python scripting language
• Must have at least 3 years of prior work experience in the following:
• Data structure and algorithm implementation
