Director of Product Management (Software)

Join Apptronik as the Director of Product Management (Software). In this role, you will lead product management for all of Apptronik's software, including autonomy, simulation, software platforms, and cloud-deployed tools. You will build and lead a team of product managers, define the commercial software strategy, and partner with engineering and research leadership to develop and maintain the software roadmap. You will also be accountable for software products across their full lifecycle and drive build-versus-buy and in-house-versus-partner decisions.

• Lead product management for all of Apptronik's on and off-robot software, developing and executing the software roadmap.
• Build and lead a team of product managers, translating market demands and customer use cases into executable roadmaps.
• Define and track portfolio-level product and program health metrics, representing software product status in executive reviews.

• Experience with autonomous robots, autonomous vehicles, or similar complex software systems enabling fluency at the hardware/software co-development boundary
• Working understanding of the robot software stack: autonomy and AI, perception and navigation, simulation, platform and middleware, and the constraints of edge deployment
• Deep software product fluency across the lifecycle: from research and definition through deployment, field operation, and continuous improvement, including evaluation and release management
• Excellent verbal and written communication, translating technical insight into business impact for engineering and executive audiences
• Proven track record building and leading product management teams
• Experience delivering cloud-based software products and services, including the cloud-to-edge architecture that connects a deployed fleet to backend systems
• A keen eye for build-versus-buy and in-house-versus-partner decisions across components and models
• Strong analytical skills with metrics discipline for performance tracking and data-driven decision-making
• At least 10 years of experience in product management or engineering, including 5+ years leading product managers, with a track record of shipping complex software products
• Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or MBA helpful
• Ability to spend time in labs and test environments, and to travel to deployment and customer sites as needed
• Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
• Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
