Senior Mechanical Engineer (Special Programs)

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will design, build, and test complex systems, including autonomous platforms and edge devices. You will collaborate with a small group of developers to tackle technical challenges and explore the frontier of maritime technology.

• Design, build, and test complex systems, including autonomous platforms and edge devices.
• Collaborate with a small team to solve technical challenges, from initial concepts to prototyping.
• Select and evaluate mechanical designs for reliability in harsh marine environments.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Proficiency in CAD (Solidworks, NX)
• Experience building complex systems from scratch, including autonomous platforms
• Comfort operating with high uncertainty, minimal resources, compressed timelines, and aggressive goals and schedules
• Fabrication experience is a plus (machining, welding, hand-tools)
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment
• Experience in marine, aerospace, robotics, or automotive hardware development
• Occasional standing and walking within the office
• Visual acuity to read screens, documents, and reports
• Lifting and carrying items up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., office supplies, packages)
• Manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other office equipment
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Occasional reaching, bending, or stooping to access file drawers, cabinets, or office supplies
