Engineering Manager (Landlord Experience)

Join TheGuarantors as an Engineering Manager for the Landlord Experience team. In this role, you will lead a distributed team of 4-6 engineers, guiding architecture, reviewing designs and code, and implementing solutions to unblock the team. You will also be responsible for raising engineering standards, building a high-performing team, and owning operational reliability. This is a remote position with competitive salary and benefits.

• Lead a distributed team of engineers in building self-service experiences across the Landlord Portal, including application tracking, renter invitations, lease details, and onboarding.
• Guide architecture, review designs and code, and selectively implement solutions to unblock the team, while balancing business needs with scalability, maintainability, and security.
• Set clear expectations, provide actionable feedback, and support career growth for team members, while continuously improving how the team plans, collaborates, and executes.

• Our stack includes TypeScript, React, Node.js, NestJS, Go, REST and GraphQL APIs, PostgreSQL, Redis, and AWS. Experience with several of these technologies is valuable, as is experience modernizing legacy systems or building self-service products
• A track record of turning ambiguous requirements in a high-growth environment into achievable plans and balancing product priorities with technical investment
• Strong coaching, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with comfort leading a distributed team
• Fluency in API design, data modeling, performance, security, and reliability: schema and API design (REST/GraphQL), PostgreSQL and Redis performance and scaling, and the operational characteristics of production services other teams and customers depend on
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including experience leading a team as a Tech Lead, Tech Lead Manager, or Engineering Manager. A strong prior track record as a senior/staff-level fullstack engineer
• Strong technical judgment and the ability to evaluate designs, review code, implement solutions, and troubleshoot production systems, with hands-on experience in fullstack development (TypeScript, React, Node.js, NestJS, and Go preferred)
• Experience delivering customer-facing products across multiple services and team dependencies
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS) and building/operating distributed, service-oriented architectures
