Software Engineer (New Graduate)

Join Chalk, a high-growth start-up, as a Software Engineer. This in-person position, starting in Spring 2027, offers the opportunity to tackle challenging engineering problems with autonomy and ownership. You will work directly with the co-founders, write in C++, Python, and Rust, and design, implement, ship, and maintain significant components of our query planning and execution engine. • Participer activement à la conception, à la mise en œuvre, à la livraison et à la maintenance de composants significatifs de notre moteur de planification et d'exécution de requêtes.
• Collaborer directement avec les co-fondateurs de Chalk pour résoudre des problèmes complexes d'ingénierie.
• Utiliser des langages de programmation tels que C++, Python et Rust pour développer des solutions innovantes.

• Track record of learning new concepts quickly
• Graduation date in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field (Computer Science, EECS)
• Strong working knowledge of computer science fundamentals. We’re not looking for experience from drilling leet code – we need folks who are comfortable building and maintaining real systems
• Strong communication skills
• Comfort with leading development of new components of existing systems, and with taking ownership of existing software
• Ability to work autonomously & to make pragmatic tradeoffs with an eye towards business outcomes
• Experience implementing data infrastructure
• Experience with distributed systems/compilers/query planners
• Experience with Rust
• Experience with developing PaaS-like software
