Senior Staff Platform Engineer

Join our team as a Senior Staff Platform Engineer, where you'll set the technical direction for our platform and own architecture for cross-organizational infrastructure initiatives. You'll operate at the intersection of deep technical execution and organizational influence, driving execution across boundaries and mentoring other engineers. • A demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority — driving alignment across engineering orgs that don't report to you, and building the kind of technical credibility that makes other senior engineers want to build on your patterns rather than route around them
• Deep, production-proven expertise in Kubernetes/EKS, service mesh (Istio strongly preferred — mTLS, traffic shaping, sidecar architecture, multi-cluster rollout), and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform or similar) at meaningful scale
• Experience mentoring Staff-level engineers and shaping how a broader engineering org approaches system design, not just your immediate team
• Experience debugging and resolving production incidents in distributed, multi-hop systems (e.g., proxy/sidecar-layer failures, cross-service auth issues, environment-specific config drift between staging and production)
• 12+ years in Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or SRE roles, including demonstrated ownership of at least one initiative that spanned multiple teams or business units, not just a single team's roadmap
• Proficiency in at least one of Go, Python, TypeScript, or Java, with the judgment to know when to write code yourself versus when to set direction and delegate
• A track record of leading complex, multi-quarter technical programs from architecture through execution — including the ability to produce the kind of cost/risk analysis and phased proposal that secures leadership buy-in and funding

• Experience with AI-native platform tooling: agentic tooling, MCP-backed APIs and golden paths for deploying AI agents in production
• A track record of driving large-scale cost or infrastructure consolidation initiatives (CI/CD platform migrations, cloud cost optimization, vendor consolidation) with measurable business impact
• Experience with multi-region or high-availability architecture, including RPO/RTO planning and per-journey SLO definition
• Comfortable authoring RFCs and leadership-facing technical proposals and presenting them directly to senior engineering leadership
