Staff Software Engineer (Referrals & Conversions)

Join Rula, a mental health care company, as a Staff Software Engineer on the Partnerships Referrals & Conversions engineering team. In this role, you will build and evolve systems for referral management, partner data management, and patient booking experiences. You will work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to align technical decisions with business goals. • Concevoir et faire évoluer des systèmes de gestion des références, de gestion des données des partenaires et d'expériences de réservation des patients.
• Jouer un rôle central dans l'orientation technique de l'équipe, en apportant de l'ordre à l'ambiguïté, en concevant des systèmes durables et en livrant des logiciels qui ont un impact direct.
• Mentorer les ingénieurs, débloquer les pairs et élever le niveau technique de l'équipe.

• Deep understanding of modern application design architecture, good API design patterns, security, performance, and scaling
• Experience designing and evolving system architectures with the ability to weigh tradeoffs and choose a suitable approach for the problem at hand
• 8+ years of related professional experience
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with partners and stakeholders
• Proven ability to lead complex technical projects across teams, shaping scope, estimates, and execution while aligning technical decisions with business goals
• Fluent with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, etc.) and able to articulate both where they accelerate delivery and where they introduce risk or require human judgment
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or comparable work experience
• Familiarity with modern infrastructure and tooling
• Experience with distributed systems development, especially using an event-based paradigm
• Experience building systems to interface or directly integrate with 3rd parties
• Comfortable troubleshooting complex production issues and advocating for reliability improvements
• Prior experience in early-stage and/or high-growth startup environments and comfortable navigating ambiguity while influencing evolving roadmaps
