Software Engineer Summer Intern (2027, MS/PhD, Onboard Developer Platform)

You will work on complex technical challenges in areas like robotics, perception, decision-making, and deep learning. As part of the Onboard developer platform team, you will build tools and solutions that enable faster model training, quality evaluation, and simulation. • Extend current reinforcement learning infrastructure and conduct experiments on our RL system.
• Identify promising new RL technologies and apply them to Waymo problems.
• Collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to solve complex technical challenges.

• If you’re a software engineer or researcher who’s curious and passionate about Level 4 autonomous driving, we'd like to meet you
• 2+ years of project experience involves coding and realized achievements (you are proud of the results)
• Fundamental understanding of machine learning and reinforcement learning
• Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in software engineering, machine learning, or a related technical field
• 3+ years of experience on ML or RL with hands-on projects
• 2+ years of experience on optimizing system infrastructure ( simulation, ML/RL, or other backend systems)
• Experience in working with autonomous driving or relevant technologies
