Privacy policy for the AI Apply extension
Last updated 4 October 2026
AI Apply is a browser extension made by ARes (aresume.ai) for ARes Premium members. It helps you read a job posting, tailor your resume and fill application forms on the site you are visiting. This page covers the extension. The ARes privacy policy covers the website and your ARes account.
What the extension reads on web pages
- On a page where you open AI Apply, and on known job application sites where it shows its button, it reads the job title, company, location, description and salary if shown, and the labels of application form fields.
- It checks whether form fields already have a value so it does not overwrite your answers. It does not send what you type into employer forms anywhere.
- It never reads password fields and does not record your browsing history.
What it sends to ARes
- The job details listed above and the page address, when AI Apply analyses a job or tailors your resume.
- The text of a question, when you ask AI Apply to draft an answer to it.
- Jobs you save or apply to, for your application tracker: address, title, company, location and status.
- The label (never the value) of form fields that ask for sensitive data, so ARes can warn you.
- Sign-in tokens, the browser name and the extension version, to keep your session secure.
What it puts into pages
Only when you click Fill application, and only on the page you are on: facts from your ARes profile (name, email, phone, location, links), the answers you confirmed in your answer bank, and the resume file you choose. Free-text answers are drafted only when you ask, and inserted only when you click Insert. AI Apply never submits an application. You always press the employer’s own submit button.
AI processing
To analyse a job, tailor your resume or draft an answer, ARes sends the job text, your resume text and the question to the AI provider ARes uses (Google Gemini, Anthropic or OpenAI), through their APIs, and only for that task. AI Apply has no AI keys of its own and runs no AI in your browser. Tailoring is limited to rewording what is already on your resume: suggestions that add anything new are blocked.
What is stored, and where
- In your browser: a short-lived sign-in token (cleared when the browser closes), a refresh token, your name, email and plan for display, and the sites where you hid the AI Apply button. Signing out clears all of it.
- At ARes: your answer bank (encrypted), your application tracker, tailored resume versions and a record of each connected browser (name, extension version, last used).
Your control
- Disconnect any browser, edit your answer bank, delete tracked jobs and tailored resumes, and export your tracker on the AI Apply page.
- Logging out of ARes signs the extension out too. Deleting your ARes account deletes everything above.
- Access to sites outside the known job sites is optional, and you can switch it off in the extension menu or in Chrome’s extension settings.
What we never do
- Sell your data, or use it for advertising or credit decisions.
- Use data from the extension for anything other than the AI Apply features you use.
- Let people read it, except to give support you ask for, for security, or when the law requires it.
The use of information received from the extension adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
